Dr Chrystal Zhang is a Senior Lecturer of Swinburne University of Technology, where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supervises doctoral and masters by research candidates and undertakes research. She also holds the role of Research Director and High Degree Research (HDR) Director, whereby she is responsible for the research performance and HDR candidature. Before that, Chrystal was Director Greater China of The Route Development Group Ltd, UK (now part of United Business Media), a world-renowned aviation event organiser (the Routes) and consultancy firm specialising in airport strategies and marketing (Airport Strategy & Marketing). In that role, she acted as Principal Consultant and Project Director and had attributed to a number of high profile consultancy projects. Prior to that, she was Business Development Manager of Mango Aviation Partners UK, a boutique aviation consultancy firm specialising in advising LCC start-ups. Earlier, Chrystal was a Manager with China Aviation Supplies Co Ltd, responsible for outsourcing aircraft/engine leasing, MRO and associated services. In the 1990s, Chrystal was Principal Officer in the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), China’s aviation regulator, where she was responsible for airline international routes licensing and approving airline commercial arrangements. She had been involved in many Bilateral Air Service Agreement negotiations and was responsible for their implementation in Chinese market. Chrystal has many publications in high-impact refereed journals and has spoken widely at seminars and conferences. She appears very often in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Chinese media, including ABC, BBC, Financial Times, New Zealand News Radio, China Daily, Australian Channel 9, sharing her views on aviation matters. Chrystal holds BA, GradDip, MSc, MBA, and PhD.
